Who We Are
About us

We are a one-of-it’s-kind group of leading engineers, financiers, data scientists, sustainability and real estate experts — working together to deliver high-ROI infrastructure projects for health systems in the United States.
Our goal is to generate significant financial savings for health systems through infrastructure efficiency, while reducing resource consumption and negative environmental impacts – so they can reinvest those savings into patient care.
Our Origin Story

Oakwell was formed through a collaboration between Boston Medical Center Health System and Omicelo, a private investment group. Leaders from BMCHS and Omicelo recognized the radical impact that infrastructure efficiency can have on a health system and formed Oakwell to extend the same impact to other hospitals.
In fact, Boston Medical Center has already experienced over $500 million in cost-savings doing the same work that Oakwell will perform for other health systems.
Our Team of Experts

Bob Biggio
Board Member, Oakwell
Chief Sustainability & Real Estate Officer, Boston Medical Center
Bob is nationally recognized for spearheading Boston Medical Center‘s $1 billion campus redesign, earning BMC the title of Boston’s greenest hospital, reducing their carbon footprint by over 50%, and producing cost savings that have exceeded $500 million to date. He implemented the largest collaborative power purchase agreement in the US, a new co-generation plant, and a solar prescription program where an on-site rooftop solar farm is the energy source for prescribing power to patients who can’t afford their electricity bills. He also oversaw the construction of a net-zero behavioral health facility. Beyond BMC, Bob is a regular speaker and contributor to Harvard, MIT, and the White House. As a board member for Oakwell, Bob leads the board-level governance and sustainability strategies that should increase access to healthcare over time.
