Uncovering a $270M Savings Opportunity

The City of Cambridge partnered with Oakwell to identify operational and capital savings opportunities within its real estate portfolio. Through comprehensive site assessments, strategic financial modeling, and detailed analyses of existing and future MEP infrastructure, we evaluated options to optimize the use of several significantly underutilized and under-capitalized facilities. We developed a roadmap for consolidating portions of their workforce into more efficient and cohesive space, while also assessing the feasibility of leveraging resulting savings to support the renovation or construction of a new City Hall facility, with an eye towards the net-zero by 2050 goal.

The analysis demonstrated potential operational and capital savings exceeding $270 million over the planning horizon.
